The Pump Walbro Fuel Pumps have set the industry standard in high-performance. Walbro pumps are QS9000 certified and are used as OE equipment in many production performance vehicles such as the C5 Corvette. Walbro's gerotor design is able to maintain high pressure while providing high volume as well. This is done by squeezing the fuel out between two gears instead of pushing it like most factory vane pumps do. (i.e. factory TR pump). This positive displacement design makes high-performance Walbro pumps small, light weight, quiet, efficient and reliable. The Walbro GSS340M's armature is more efficient than the GSS307M's which allows it to flow more fuel at higher pressures with less current draw. The pressure setting of the GSS340M's internal bypass valve is set higher than the GSS307M's. The Walbro GSS340M is recommended for Turbo Regal's as it is not uncommon for the fuel pressure to approach or exceed 60PSI which is the recommended cutoff point for the GSS307M. The GSS340M is the perfect pump for serious performance minded racers and is capable of supporting high fuel volumes at pressures exceeding 60PSI. Walbro has introduced the F20000169 to replace the GSS340M in March 2004. The F20000169 is exactly the same pump as the GSS340M apart from the new smaller offset molded inlet. This new inlet saves Walbro the trouble of machining the ends in order to accept a GM style filter sock. Walbro has priced the F20000169 apx. 35% higher than the GSS340M. Racetronix will continue to offer the GSS340M by machining pumps in-house while passing the savings along to our valued customers. Pump Installation kit Walbro discontinued the 400-835 pump installation kit which went along with the GSS340M pump. Racetronix viewed this as an opertunity to improve and expand the components that were supplied with the 400-835 kit. Racetronix has added a pump sound insulation sleeve, power test lead and new in-tank wiring to the kit. The factory pump came with a sound insulation sleeve but this was never part of the Walbro 400-835 kit. This sleeve helps reduce pump noise heard from outside tank. The new test lead allows the pump to be powered up without the vehicle running in order to aid in draing the tank. This test lead comes in quite handy when changing pumps or fuel at the track. The test lead has an aligator clip at one end which attaches to the alternator's + output. The other end has a male push-on terminal which plugs into the black factory fuel pump test connector just behind the alternator. It is a handy piece to have in the glove box. The most important addition to this kit is the all new in-tank replacement wiring. <BELOW> In-tank Wiring - Racetronix Exclusive! In-tank wiring is quickly becoming a major problem due to the age of TR's. Many terminals are heavily corroded or broken off. The standard in-tank wiring that comes with a Walbro pump is an inline adapter. This adapter relies on the questionable factory wiring and adds another connection and length of wire. Racetronix has used its in-house design and manufacturing facility to produce a one-piece replacement for the in-tank pump wiring. Racetronix replacement in-tank wiring plugs directly into the Walbro pump and into the factory bulkhead connector thereby eliminating all the factory pump wiring or adapters (as sold by other vendors). Racetronix took the design one step further by providing a redundant ground clamp for the fuel module which has a factory bonded ground wire (G77). The Racetronix harness is made from mil. spec. silver plated Teflon wire which is the type used by GM because it is the most resistant to gas. All connections are crimped using our computerized crimp-quality monitoring system and then circuit checked for the utmost in reliability. There are no wires to cut, crimp or splice. All connections are Plug & Play. |
